You became a math teacher because you believed every student could think mathematically. We're here to help you make that real.

"4DMA is for teachers, like you - supporting what you need to reset and revive your practice with a community of like-minded professionals."

We know what brought you to this work. You've seen the moment a student who "hates math" suddenly gets it - when the right question, the right problem, the right approach unlocks something that wasn't there before. You want more of those moments. So do we.

We also know what gets in the way. The pacing guides that leave no room to go deeper. The students who've already decided math isn't for them before they reach your classroom. The PD sessions that offer strategies you can't figure out how to actually use on Monday morning. The feeling that you're doing this mostly alone.

4D Math Alliance was built by teachers who felt all of that - and who refused to accept that it was inevitable. With over 35 years of combined experience as teachers, coaches, and university faculty, our team knows what it feels like to stand in front of a class of students with a lesson that isn't landing. We built 4DMA to be the support we wish we'd had.

What makes 4DMA different

Most professional development treats teachers as problems to be fixed. A workshop tells you what you're doing wrong, hands you a new framework, and sends you back to your classroom to figure out the rest. 4DMA works differently. We treat you as a professional who already has knowledge, instincts, and real expertise - and we build with you, not at you.

Math 1:1 Mentorship

Weekly virtual sessions, live and on your schedule. Ask anything - content, pedagogy, a lesson that flopped. Your mentor has been there.

Co-Creation

You don't get a packet of someone else's materials. You and your mentor build instructional resources together, for your students.

Community

A network of K-12 math teachers who share your values and your challenges - and who show up for each other.

Equity at the Center

Every strategy, every resource, every conversation is grounded in the belief that all students are mathematical thinkers.

Who 4DMA is for

Whether you're in your first year or your fifteenth, 4DMA meets you where you are. You might be:

  • A new teacher who wants to build equitable, engaging practice from the start - before habits form that are hard to break.

  • An experienced teacher who's feeling stuck or burned out, looking for a community that can help you rediscover what you love about this work.

  • A teacher in a high-need school who is passionate about your students but under-supported by your institution - and needs a mentor who truly gets it.

  • A teacher who's ready to grow - not because someone told you to, but because you know your students deserve it and you're ready to go deeper.

How it works

Getting started with 4DMA is simple. Here's what to expect:

  1. Join the alliance. Become a 4DMA member and gain access to the full community, resources, and mentorship program.

  2. Meet your mentor. You'll be matched with a 4DMA mentor who understands your grade level, context, and goals.

  3. Start your Math 1:1 sessions. Weekly virtual sessions, scheduled around your life - before school, after school, during planning. You set the agenda.

  4. Co-create and implement. Build lessons and strategies with your mentor, try them in your classroom, and come back to debrief what worked and what didn't.

  5. Grow with your community. Connect with fellow 4DMA teachers, attend events like our Summer Sandbox, and keep building - because great teaching is never finished.
